Hi My name is Tessa . I am a chef based in Auckland New Zealand . I have been around food for a long time now, Got my London City and Guilds way back in 1986 , Worked in the hospitality industry for about 15 yrs and had a wee break and returned back in this wonderful industry 4 years ago. Im currently studying to be a Patisserie Chef at a great college in Albany called North Shore International Academy. www.nsia.ac.nz. I am learning so much and loving being back at school.

I got in to this wonderful industry at the age of 15, starting off as a kitchenhand whilst still at school and worked my way up through the kitchen ranks.

When I went away from the industry for a while to have a break I didnt realise how much I missed it till I came back, and now I cant think of any other industry that I ever want to be working in, I just love what I am doing so much.

Some of my interests are making food gifts for special people, cake decorating which im still learning and doing many different things with. I am a total foodie and love trying new things. I do some volunteer work for the West Auckland Hospice teaching a cooking class once a week , which is a real joy and gives me great pleasure and a sense of giving back to the community.- I am addicted to foodtv  haha my tv when I am at home is almost permanently on Food tv .

I have a wonderful loving and incredibly supportive man “Bruce” who is my rock and supports me in everyway .I try to keep a good balance of work, school, play and Bruce /myself time. I am about to graduate next week 26/9/2008  I cannot believe that I have been studying for a year It has just gone by so fast. Im now in employment mode currently looking for my perfect job and will go back to do level 5 in culinary arts next year.

I am now working as a Baker at a great Cafe in Ellerslie called  the Malabar Cafe and just loving it  I work really hard  producing lots of lovely things like brownies, muffins, cupcakes, scones and much much more and am slowly introducing new things in to the cabinet
